snow snow go away come again in a few days or so...

The view from my window is of a beautiful mass of snow and how lovely it looks. Like a silverlining delicately placed along the bare branches of the empty trees, capping the bright red berries in the bushes and like a carpet disguising the floor. It is so beautiful...and it is a right old pain! Attempting today to make the journey from Birmingham down to London for the night to see the Amateur Transplants (a very funny doctor duo that became huge on youtube if you don't know them...not perhaps for the fainthearted but hilarious if you don't mind a bit of dark in your humour) So far the trains seem to be running without too much trouble but we shall see...wish me luck!

FIRST BLOG!!!

Very excited to be posting my first blog! Hoping through here to share my own ideas and inspirations as well as hearing about and seeing other peoples. As you may or may not have read, in my 'About Me' section, I am a third year fashion student about to embark on the most daunting of tasks - my final major project! - and will be posting about that and any other goings on as they happen. For my FMP I am looking to create a new magazine and would LOVE for anyone who would like to contribute to do so! It will be a magazine not just about fashion but about all things from films to music to art to society...and I am hoping it will end up as a lifestyle magazine aimed at people with similar interests to mine! I will post as soon as possible some examples of the work I've been doing recently (and not so recently) and will continue to top up with any new pieces as and when they're finished. I have been working mainly on illustration and styling and am hoping to continue slightly more with the styling and photography side of things in the coming months. But enough of that, what I really want to blog about today is what an amazing night I had last last night! I was lucky enough to be working behind the bar at a Martha Reeves and the Vandellas gig and was blown away! Not only does Martha (and the Vandellas of course!) have an incredible voice but the show was about more than just a good singer. She was so full of energy and had the whole room bouncing...it was wonderful to see a performance like that where the boundary between the performers and the audience seemed non-existent with her chatting away to the crowd like they were old friends. She said at the beginning of her set that she wanted the night to be more like a house party and boy did she make that happen! Loved it loved it loved it! I've been pretty lucky actually, at my age as a 22 year old, to have seen three of my all time favourite bands live (Squeeze, The Police and The Specials - all formed in the mid to late seventies) but last night gave them all a run for their money - Martha you were wonderful! x
